If its steam and its in the North West chances are I will be filming it .My love of Steam stems from my late father who was a relief signalman on Shap working the boxes from Lambrigg crossing to Shap summit but mainly worked the signalbox at Scout Green.
SR 34067 Tangmere Chases it's tail to make up Time on the Cumbrian Mountain Express 22/6/24.
SR 34067 Tangmere would be at the helm of the latest Cumbrian Mountain Express from London Euston to Carlisle via the West Coast Mainline over Shap but due to trespassing reported near Milton Keynes the tour would be an hour late . We first see 34067 approaching Hayfell bridge and Docker Viaduct having cut the delay to just over half an hour but sadly the 47 was helping somewhat. The return leg sees 34067 at Smardale curve and Waitby Rock Cutting .Thanks to Nige for the lift and great company today.47746 Chris Fudge was celebrating the 14th anniversary of Mr Fudges passing .

SR 34067 Tangmere would be the motive power for the latest Northern Belle of 2024 from Leeds to Carlisle with 34067 joining at Carnforth for the climb over Shap. Flew solo today so stayed local so we see Tangmere at Grayrigg on a very wet Saturday morning. Tangmere was running late from Carnforth due to the late running Glasgow bound Pendolino.

A lovely summer day would see two Bullied Light Pacific's follow each other over the 1 in 75 climb to Shap Summit . At the moment most steam tours seem to have a diesel on the rear be it for operational needs or to provide aircon ,central door locking so is this going to be the norm for the future ( hopefully not ) . This video sees 6201 Princess Elizabeth attacking the climb to Shap Summit in 2011 with no diesel in sight .

Some great shots here, but that engine still sounds sick to me, and has for at least a month now. Just hope the maintenance crew know what they are doing.
I’m sure I read somewhere they’ve fitted Giesl ejector which probably makes it sound a bit off.
@@Phil-go8rf Not sure that is true, but even if it were it would make no difference to the valve setting, which is obviously not right. 34092 City of Wells has had a Giesl Ejector for 40 years, which actually produces a softer exhaust than the standard fitting. Tangmere is producing a definite bang in its exhaust at every revolution of the driving wheels, and that is most definitely not as it should be.
